    Question

Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone could answer a question for me. My niece just gave my daughter an AG doll that she used to play with. I'm not sure what number she is, but her hair has been cut by my niece because she got something stuck in the hair. My question is, does AG.com rewig a doll or is it up to me to attempt to do it? I am in no way crafty and I would really like to get this doll some new hair. She is really cute, but just needs some TLC.

    Thanks!!

As far as I know, AG will replace the whole head for 38 dollars. I just re-wigged an AGOT 11 with a nice Monighe wig for 26 dollars.

You can also get wigs from www.kemper.com . They're on sale right now at around $4.00 each. I've used them and they are nice quality. Maria has rewigging instructions here: www.justmagicdolls.com . It's easier than it looks. Have fun!

AG will not rewig simply because it is far faster to simply replace the head. That takes 2 minutes tops. To rewig, you have to carefully peel off the old one, scrape off any remaining glue clumps, glue on the new one, wait 24 hours to comb it out and, if she has bangs, trim her bangs as they are always made long on wigs expressly to accomodate different sized foreheads. In short, it takes a lot more time and the AG Hospital is premised on fast turnaround.

Of course, you could do all of these yourself and, if you did not like the result, send her on in for a new head.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Does anyone know what wigs on that website are good for AG dolls? My daughter has brown hair so I kinda wanted to get a wig the same color. I also wanted it to be long, kinda like Marisol's hair.

Also, if I end up sending the doll to the AG hospital, do I have to specify to leave her with the neck strings? She has them now and so does our Marisol and I would like to keep them.

Sorry about all the questions, but you all just know so much!

I read elsewhere that the AG Hospital has abandoned the nylon tiewraps and have gone back to string to fasten on the doll's head. Apparently, the public did not like the tiewraps. It would not hurt, should you send your doll in to the hospital, to specify that you want string for the neck closure and not the nylon tiewrap. Measure twice; cut once...
